Happy Halloween!!!

Be safe!  So says Purple Tentacle.

Please, don't try that at home, kids.  Lighter fluid + pumpkin = disaster, 911, arrests, and possible bodily harm

The Deadly

Old news for some... new news for others.  Here's the recent film my bro and I did for the Assassin's Creed short film contest hosted by the Independent Film Channel (IFC) and Ubisoft called "The Deadly".  I chose not to play a role in the movie but instead to help out behind the scenes with pre-production, lighting, sound, props, management, etc.  Even though we didn't win or place in the Top 10, it was a great learning experience.  Thank you to all those that acted, did make up, held lights, rolled on dirty bathroom floors, catered, etc ... you know who you are =D  Anyway, enjoy!

Top 10 film contest entries!!!

Holy mother of father!  We made it into the Top 10!  Somebody likes us... yay!

Now, please be kind and vote for our entry =D  You can even let us know you did.  I'll be sure that we'll send you a thank you letter.  NOTE:  You have to be a member of myspace to vote (which is lame, imho) - http://www.myspace.com/strangleholdgame

I really didn't expect that.  There are some crazy entries in there... a lot of higher budget ones with better acting and action :P  But I guess someone liked our idea.  My favorite part is when I shoot the badguy through the door and he flies away.  That badguy was played by me.  Wondering how we did that shot?  I <3 movie magic.  But sorry, a magician never tells his secrets.  Another favorite shot of mine is when Ryan (the badguy in the cat burgler/batman mask), rolls to shoot me.  Reminds me of Gears of War with the camera shaking.  We actually had to do that shot a dozen times cuz we kept screwing up our rolls, hahaha.

Anyways, what'd you like about the film?

Of course, the original vision changed dramatically from the final product, but I think the gist of it remained the same.  On one revision the script was a whopping 4 pages long.  For a 2 and a half minute movie, that was too much.  There was supposed to be some dialogue, slower scenes, more action, and a second ending.  We went through 6 major revisions of the script.  We then filmed a screen test  in our house which I wish I could post but my brother doesn't want me to show it :P  It's pretty funny.  Principle shooting took four hours mainly because of the traffic and people going in and out of the location.  Oh did I mention it was hot as heck?  I was burning up and I wasn't even wearing the black commando sweater for most of the shooting.  I'm pretty happy with the final film my bro and I put together.  It's short and sweeeet.  Wuuuuuuuu!
